Beethoven Cello Sonata No.3 Op.69
2nd Mov.: Scherzo

Ludwig van Beethoven composed this work,in 1807/08, at the time of the Fifth and Sixth Symphonies. Its cantabile character makes it on a sense a cello counterpart to the Violin Concerto.
The second movemnet, A minor Scherzo, marked by jagged, suncopated rhythms, progressed by way of E minor and C major to a Trio melody in A major whose songlike character, like that of the Trio to the Scherzo of the Seventh Symphony, is transformed at times by dynamic contrasts.
