Quantum ENERGY

Quantum is " Ryoshi " in Japanese . Japanese " Ryoshi " has two means . One is " Fisherman " . One is " Quantum " . Oh ! What a academic brand name !
Mr.Hara , who was a engineer of Hyoshi and had designed old Zebco spinning reels , said that Zebco was most practical manufacturer .
They are manufacturing their spincasting reels in US still now . It is great although spincasting reels are not popular in other countries .
Their baitcasting reels and spinning reels has been manufactured in Asia .

Quantum ENERGY E3-2
It was sold in Japan in 90's . 3 means the number of bearings ( 1RB/2BB ) . American fisher has become " bearingist " like as Japanese !
2 means the size of 2000 .

It maybe made by Isuzu Thai .
Made in Thailand .

Daiwa ?
Oh ! It is similar to Daiwa's bail tripping system .
But its smoothness is much better than the original .

Ryobi ?
Oh ! It is similar to Ryobi's Z rotor .

Shimano ?
Oh ! It is similar to Shimano's BioGrip .
Is it no problem because Thai Isuzu has made Shimano reels ?

Max cast spool lip
Its lip is right angle and sharp . It is good for long distance casting and prevents line troubles .
Zebco decided this shape by the testing of the speed gun . Oh ! What a practical !

Balanced handle
I don't think it is good . It increases reel weights . Some fishermen maybe feel good turning in tackle shop .But it is only " shop performance " .

Bail arm stopper
It has stopper in this side also . It prevents breaking of bail wire .

The bail wires of my 4 Japanese reels has broken on this point by fatigue from closing impacts . The stopper maybe solve the problem .

Zebco said about Olympic fishing tackle , which was a 70's top manufacture in Japan and made Zebco reels , " They don't know fishing " . The reason was that Olympic was tested their bail life only 2500 cycles .Zebco had known the importance of bail life then . They are practical .

Now , spinning reels have long bail wires and bigger counter balances . So Zebco's stopper is good for them .

Although it has some imitation point , it is a practical spinning reel .

Zebco went fishing trip with all of R & D members together the spinning reel samples which were fixed line guide . They tried to search what shape of roller was gentle for fishing lines by this trip . They are so practical .

They were one of top 3 in US market in 80's . I heard so because I was a member of a Japanese fishing tackle manufacture then . Perhaps they are still top 3 .

But this model has some " imitation " . It is regrettable .

* The reel on this page has very big " jerking " on its drag . But it is too big to think it is normal product . So , I did not write about it on this page .
