Sporty line spinning
The "Sporty line" spinning reels.

‚P@Cardinal 700 series
The first Japanese Cardinal on early 80's. No trigger model is 750. Trigger model is 760. The last number shows reel size. This model was not "Abu Cardinal". It was produced by Garcia. When Abu bought Garcia company, this model became Abu reel. Abu added not only Abu name but brass bushes on its main gear. This is Abu ! Matsuo-kogyo manufactured in Nagano Japan.

‚Q@Cardinal ‚W00 series
The 800 series on 80's. This model was designd by Henry Dreyfuss whitch was the No.1 design consultant company in NewYork. Manufactured by Matsuo-kogyo.

The counter clock wise rotor. This system can use trigger with normal anti-reverse. Customer does not need to reverse handle, when he pick up line. This idea was proposed by Kenji Hara who designed LEW's spinning reels. He took Lassi who was technical manager of Abu to a swimming pool. Then he handed a set of spinning tackle with normal trigger spinning reel. But its handle was set on right. Kenji Hara said ,"Cast by left hand, Wind by right hand". First Lassi could not understand. But after a few minutes, Lassi desided to employ the CCR rotor.

Oh, my god ! The 80's "feature war" made this gimmick. Abu opposed Shimano's "Fightin' Drag" by this double rear drag. Japanese Abu fan were discouraged by this model.

‚R@Cardinal Gold Max 2
The first "Long cast spool" spinning of Abu on early 90's. Originally, spool was gold aluminum alloy. Roller line guide with bush and easy maintenance construction are "Abu". Made in Korea.

‚S@Cardinal SM‚P‚O‚T‚QF
90's model. This reel's metal body was designed by Porche's designer. But its weight is 350g ! You will become like Arnold Schwarzenegger with it. Abu forgot that most important task of fishing tackle was "casting and reeling". Side cover cannot be removed without removing rotor. Made in Japan and Bangladesh. Perhaps, manufactured by Mamiya/Olympic.
