80's spinning

AutomaticGS700X
The first internal-trip spinning reel of Daiwa in the end of 70's.
The spool diameter of 39mm and the gear ratio of 5.4:1 are the same class to Mitchell408. But its weight of 265g was heavier than it. It did the accidental bail closing, although its bail tripping was not smooth.
The cause was its decorative wood and one-touch handle. It was a wrong point of Japanese spinning reels.
ProspinGS700RD
The first RD small spinning of Daiwa.
The roller guide with bushing and smooth bail tripping were good.
It had the tapered semi-long spool and taper-oscilating system for long casting. But it made more tangles.
It did the accidental bail closing too.

They looked luxury. But they were not able to do their basic job. It was 80's Japanese reel.
PhantomEX800
The world first carbon spinning reel in '82.
Its weight is only 240g. although its size is #3000.
It was not only carbon reel. Its roller guide had the bushing. Its bail mechanism was strong. Its handle was screw lock type.
It was progressive. But it was not popular. The reason was the " timing ". It was born after RD boom.
EX750Handle Tournament EX750
The first long-spool spinning with metal body in '89.
The pioneer of hi-class spinning reels.
The BB line guide and the BB drag were started by this model.
But its feeling was not so good. The reason was the big inertia. Its big roller and faster oscillation made the inertia too big.
So, I had given it to my brother soon.
Its handle knob was started " I " shape. But it was changed to " T " shape for the Japanese anglers who didn't know how to use spinning reels and wound by their right hands. I had changed " T " knob to " I " knob soon after purchasing. So, there is only handle.
Tournament EX600
The smallest model of Tournament EX.

You see " first " on this and next pages. This is Daiwa's great point. (2003/8/27)
