Although Mitchell was a expensive reel, it become a cheap one.
I arranged it.
The drag of C1000 is not good. Its washer is too small to get enough performance. And, only the upper felt washer works as a friction washer.
I changed the grease to the Shimano's ACE-2. It is the grease for the drag washers of Shimano's bait reels. It improves the drag performance.
I tried changing the washer like this picture. The drag range was improved.
Although a "key" washer and a felt washer are needed, the drag knob works as a "key" washer. The black washer is the spool washer of Shimano.
Japanese spinning reels have the rotor braking system. It supports the feathering of the forefinger. But Mitchell reels don't have it.
I bonded the "magic tape" as the "rotor brake"by the epoxy glue.
I used the soft side and greased by the ACE-2.
Avocet has the bail stopper on the opposite side of the bail arm. Although it is a good design, the pin of #500 and #1000 is short. So, I added the epoxy on the rotor for enough strength.
The looseness of handle is large. So, I bonded the bushings first.
But it was not enough, because the cause of the looseness was the internal diameter of bushings.
So, I changed the bushings to the ball bearings.
The grease of the oscillation mechanism and the bushings of drive gear is too hard. So, I changed the grease to Shimano's grease (not ACE-2).
And it is better that the oil of one-way-clutch is changed to Shimano's reel oil.
