Main shaft
The details of the main shaft .
60's (4pawls) This is the oldest type . The pawls are 4 . The shaft is plated steel . The end of shaft is longer than the others by 1 mm for durability . 恐らく最も古いタイプです。シャフト先端の爪が4枚です。 |
70's (2pawls) The pawls become 2 from 4 . Is it for " cost down " ? No . It can hold the spool more firmly . It maybe better for the planamatic models . The end of the shaft is shorter than 60's . But its durability is no problem . |
80's The plastic of shaft become black . |
Brass shaft The shaft changed to brass in 80's . The number of E is smaller than steel . But it is no problem in use . The brass is smooth for pinion and supporting hole . It is better than steel for anti-rust . |
308Pro Planamatic 308Pro Planamatic , which was made only for Japan , had the all brass shaft . Perhaps , it was only for the sticker of " made in France " . But the metallic material is heavier than the plastic . The gear of the shaft maybe damage the line when it is wound in . It has no mellit . |
Error 308planamatic had the " off set " holes for good winding for planamatic . |
But MITCHELL moved the holes in opposite direction . Oh , my god . |
Some Japanese enthusiasts think the older MITCHELL is good in all cases
. But it is not correct . You can know it from the main shafts .
MITCHELL uses the plastic parts rationally . The bail arm of Abu 33/44
is same . These are rational and good design .
I feel them from the backbone of the spinning reels .
