The newest Mitchell reel is this 300Xe. "e" means "evolution".
300X was designed in France. Ideal was designed in Sweden. And, 300Xe was designed in USA. It is same as Avocet.
300Xe : weight: 284g, ratio:5.1, spool:46mm
Made in China.
The drag washers has been enlarged because Xe does not employ the cartridge spool.
The spool is colored by "double anodized". Its surface is smoother than Daiwa. XeG imitates the titan lip by this way.
Dynamic balance is excellent. The counter weight is minimum also.
PF says that it is stronger than graphite. But most "graphite reel"is polyamid and glass fiber.
Perhaps, the resin of 300Xe is harder than them. I feel it is rigid a little.
The bail is made from thick aluminum wire. It is same as Cardinal 500ALB. It has the stopper on the opposite side of bail arm. It maybe durable.
The bail arm is supported by brass bushing. The bail spring guide and tripping lever are changed from zinc of 300X to stainless.
Its durability is better than 300X.
But its tripping is not smooth. It lost the identity of MITCHELL.
The bushing of this side is large. It is changed BB on XeG !
It means that XeG is empty reel.
The worm shaft oscillation of 300X has been changed to S-cam on Xe. The durability is better than 300X.
The pinion is supported by 2BB.
Knob is good shape. It keeps minimum MITCHELL's identity.
But the crank is...
The crank is too thick and too long. It seems like forged but it is die-cast.
MITCHELL's rotation of the light weight crank has been disappeared.
Its leg is copy of Shimano's Bio-grip.
Moreover its spool is far for feathering.
Comfortableness like as the seats of French cars was the identity of MITCHELL.
Fool Americans spoiled it.
It is only copy of Daiwa's design.
Xe told us that 300X was really MITCHELL.
300X had MITCHELL's identities, spool concept, light weight handle, smooth tripping bail, easy feathering... Its styling was not copy of other reels.
