My 408

I consider what is the " good reel " from my 408.

My 408
This is the my 408. I bought it in March '87. I was employed to Shimano after it by a harf mounth.
This 408 is not 70's reel which is desired by collectors.
Rearrangement
I rearranged the gears by the spiral bevel gears of 70's 408.
I have used it from 2000 to2001.
Re-rearrangement
But I returned it to the original face gears in 2002.
With gear noise
Its rotation is rough. But I had fished with this 408 from 87.
I wound up this beautiful trout with its gear noise.
This picture of a Japanese fishing magagine is mine.
The reel of it is my 408.
This trout was caught by my 408 too.
My obstinacy
Although I was a member of Shimano, I always used MITCHELL 408.
MITCHELL 408 was more excellent reel for me than 80's Shimano spinnings , because my forefinger could not reach to the spool of Shimano.

Even if the gears are smooth, I can not cast with the reel which the finger doesn't reach to its spool.
Even if the gears are not smooth, I can cast with the reel which the finger reaches to its spool.

These were (are) my obstinacy.
Memory
I caught this trout with noisy 408 on May 2002.
I could think back my 80's memory by this 408.
Even if collectors do not want , even if its gears are rough , it is my favorite.

What is a "good reel" ? The expensive reel ? The rare reel ? The reels on my web site ????
You may have a "good reel" already.(2002/11/5)
