Reconsider 90's
Some enthusiasts regard only inner spool reels as "MITCHELL".
But I don't think so. There is "MITCHELL" even if it is 90's.
Push button spool MITCHELL has been using push button spool on all models. This mechanism is effective of front drag spinning reels, because the drag adjusting is not changed by spool change. |
Handle Although 70's handle is best, 90's did not forget their tastes. They keep the policy that fitness and lightness are important as handle. |
Bail tripping Smooth bail tripping. It is different from the rough trip of Japanese reels. |
Ball bearing arrangement Shimano Ultegra and MITCHELL Prestige have 3 ball bearings. MITCHELL uses all bearing for gears and uses bush in its line roller. It is better for durability, because bush does not rust. MITCHELL is right. Japanese reels wants to write "ball bearing line roller" to their catalogue. |
Multi point A/R MITCHELL is a realist. Do you miss your catch by only 10 digree reverse of rotor? This system is light and reliable. But it had changed to roller clutch after this. |
Standard A/R MITCHELL230's in 97. It uses simple A/R like old Ohmori and Matsuo. Japanese present manufacturers never do such. It is the best way about lightness and anti-dust. |
Resistance to a fashion Previlege selected dark green color, although the trend was silver in 90's. If it was silver, it was beautuful. Perhaps MITCHELL wanted to keep their individuality. |
Eggshell shape Although Prestige's color was on trend, it kept the legendary eggshell shape. Moreover, it is massive and beautiful. |
It is not similar to nobody Although it is not beautiful, I can say that it is not similar to nobody. It is great. But it was not similar to old 300, even if it was a motif. |
This is not individuality I wrote about MITCHELL's individuality. But this is not same. Shimano uses thinner bail wire against Daiwa's air-bail. This is only reverse of Daiwa, because thinner bail wire is not right. Japanese manufactures do not have a policy. |
MITCHELL has been keeping their policy like as push button spool, good handle, and smooth trip since 1947.
MITCHELL is a realist and individual.
It is "MITCHELL".
Although some of them are not good for marketing, I don't think it is wrong.
Mamiya and Ryobi went away from the market, because they had made same
reels to Daiwa and Shimano. (2003/5/15)
