Knobs
The knob is a point which contacts to its owner . We are able to know the manufacturer's policy by it .

Twisted type 1
This type was used for 60's reels . Its surface is smooth and does not have skid . It was thicker than 70's .
Twisted type 2
This type was used for 70's reels . It fits owner's fingers very well .
Although at first use some owners would feel that the twists are surplus , they would become to feel comfortable after a few use .
It fits 70's short crank .
This type is a symbol of MITCHELL's good knobs .
Ambidextrous type 1
This type was used for 4400 series . It was ambidextrous . So It was not twisted .
Its surface does not have skid .
Although it is simple , it fits fingers well too .
MITCHELL's knobs do not have concaves . This point shows that MITCHELL knows knobs well . Because the knob is not only picked but gripped .
If it had concave , it did not fit finger when owner gripped it .
Ambidextrous type 2
This type was used 80's 308A , Matsuo's 2200 , 3500 etc .
It fits fingers well as type 1 .
I feel freedom from it , because it can fit various gripping way .
It fit longer crank of 80's 308A . MITCHELL fits the length of crank to the shape of knob .
This type has been used for 300 and 308 to lastly .
I had seen this type of wood on MITCHELL's catalogue . But perhaps it was not sold .
Wooden knob
This type was used for 308Pro , 300Pro , Prestige etc .
It is smaller and fits fingers better than Japanese " winch " knobs .
Ambidextrous type 3
This type was used for 600LS , Previlege , 300EX , Quartz , 300X etc .
MITCHELL's knob is becoming wider and wider .
Even if it fits its longer crank , it is too wide for me .
Ambidextrous type 4
This type was used for SpiderCast and 90's 200 etc .
Although it was similar to Abu's , it was fit well . But it was used little .
It might have fit 300 and 308 , if it had been black .

A Japanese motor journalist says that the old Citroen's sheets are excellent .@He says " old " always .
I have to say " old " MITCHELL's knobs are excellent .
But MITCHELL seems to think much of knob , because they are changing the form of the knob .
I like MITCHELL's knobs than Japanese knobs . The " good " knobs of Japanese reels are wood or soft coating . Is it essence ?
I think that Japanese reels are trying to get owners by appearance of knobs . And wood and soft coating are only for the expensive models .
Which is the true way ?
European reels are made for human . Japanese reels are made for market .
This difference is the difference of each social .
