Line twist

I tested about the line twist of@Mitchell .

Line guide of 80's and 90's
This type had used on 80's and 90's 308 . I have felt that the twist of 90's is more than the twist of 80's because it have made tangles in fishing .

So , I tried to test it .

The ditch
Left is 80's . Right is 90's . The ditch of 90's is shallower than 80's .
Blue is 80's . Red is 90's .
Samples
I tested the 2 guides on a 308PRO . I tested Shimano's TwinPower1000 for reference . TP1000 is " Sustain " .

The lines are 4lb .

The lure is a spoon of 4.8g . The speed of reeling is moderate because the spoon should not rotate . The line is connected directly .

Casting
I had done 100 casts per a sample .

Measure
After the casting , I counted the twist . I hold the line of 1.7m by both hands and closed the hands . The line become twine . I counted the times of this twists .

Result
The graph is twists per 1.7m .

Samples Total of 40m Avg of 1.7m Max of 1.7m
80's308 79 3.3 13
90's308 47 2.0 5
98TP1000 22 0.9 3

Oh ?! The result is unmatched to my impression .

Consideration
I consider about the cause of unmatching of the result and impression .

1: I had not felt the twists by true twists but other causes .

2: 90's guide didn't turn perfectly because its plated surface is smoother than 80's .

About 1 : My 90's reels had made tangles in fishing . So , I had thought their twist was much . But true cause might be not the twist but line winding shape etc .

About 2 : The tension of line might be too low to turn the guides . But it is difficulty of testing ...

Conclusion
I cannot say conclusion only this test . And the 100 casts is only 2 hours ....

Only conclusion is that the impression of fishing doesn't match to test all the time .

I will use the 308PRO with 90's guide for testing this season .

Addition
Although the result of test is not so good , I think the twist of Mitchell is not so much .

Some of my reels make more twist than Mitchell . I want to test about them . But all of the test cost are my payment ...

Field test

I used the 308PRO with 90' guide in the natural fields . I cast spoon and minnow with 0.20mm line . I tried " twitching " with minnow also . It didn't make any tangles during 21 hours .

My impression of " 90's guide makes more twists and tangles than 80's " was a misunderstanding . Twists were felt less than 80's guide .

Results of above test matched in the field .
I thought 90'guide worse because 308PRO Planamatic and 308A Planamatic made tangles with few hours use . I thought the cause of the tangles were line twists .

True cause was the shape of line-winding . The reels were wound the lines " level " or " tapered " . I tuned this 308PRO to " reverse tapered " . Then it didn't make tangles .

My impression of " 90's guide makes more twists and tangles than 80's " was a misunderstanding in this web-site .
