Quartz was boan in 1996. I reasses this "neo-classic" reel.

	Quartz330 Quartz tried to revive Mitchell300's image with inner spool construction. In USA, the names were Precision or SpidercastPro.
	Line Control This mechanism prevents the loop wound on spool. It works well. But it makes reel's looks wrong and increases reel's weight.
	Anti deformation bail The bail wire was weakpoint of spinning reel. Mitchell's derection was right. But this plastic bail is heavy. It makes impact when it closes.
	Mitchell spool concept Its concept was good. But it makes spool ass'y heavier and its capacity minimum.
	Advantage of inner spool What is the advantage of inner spool ? It is light weight and compactness. For example, the end of spool is the blue arrow. If this spool had a skirt, its end was the red arrow. Above 3 points spoiled these advantages. Although they were good ideas, they were not suitable to Quartz. Well, what was the best way of Mitchell Quartz?
	Line guard ring The ring preventing the line from getting into the spool. This is a great mechanism not only for inner spool reels but for the all spinning reels.
	Skirtless spool Skirtless spool makes reels light and compact. But the line gets into rotor and the drag washers cannot be built in. Quartz solved these 2 problems.
	If If I were a designer of Mitchell, I chose only line guard ring on spool and made its looks simple as old 300. The left picture was drawn on the photo of Quartz. The emblem on rotor is a counter weight. How about it ? Click for large size.

Quartz was not sold well. But I can say that Quartz was the reel which only Mitchell could make.
Quartz may be to have been the most progressive reel in the 90s.
We should admit this point.

Therefore, I regret that Mitchell can not have utilized the chance which Mitchell make "new 300" .
