MITCHELL308/408 after 80's have some problems. I hope MITCHELL to improve them !
1 Bail spring.
I found some broken MITCHELL308 of 90's in fishing tackle shops. Their
bail springs were broken. Same problem is written on another Japanese website.
I could not understand it, because my 80's reels were no problem. I knew
the reason by my 90's 308. The coils of its bail spring is less than 80's
reel. MITCHELL had better change the bail spring to old type.
2 Line shape.
My 308A planamatic winds the line as the left picture. It makes tangles.
The 308/408 after 80's were set as same as this 308A planamatic. It is
reverse of Daiwa's ABS. The 70's 308/408 prevented the tangles by the winding
shape like as ABS (70's MITCHELL staff knew that ABS shape prevented tangles
!). The other pictures are my original oscilating slider and its winding
shape.
3 Bail arm
This type bail arm ofen makes tangle as left picture. Why did MITCHELL
leave such easy problem for 15 years ? The picture 4 is my solution.
4 Line twist.
This type line roller prevents twist. But I feel 90's reel makes more twists than 80's. The groove of 90's is shallower than 80's. It maybe reason. MITCHELL had better check the dimention.
5 I hope MITCHELL..
I hope MITCHELL to remake the 70's 408 (picture is my transplanted 408).
But it maybe impossible. So I hope MITCHELL to improve from 1 to 4 at least.
These 4 points are the most basic and most important task of fishing reel.
It can be said "cast and reel". The 308 will live more longer
by these improving !
