大森製作所は1952年に創業した埼玉の釣り具メーカーです。国内では｢ダイヤモンドリール｣ブランドで知られていた同社ですが、海外では｢シェイクスピア｣ブランドを通じて製品を輸出、高い評価を受けていました。
あまり知られていないことですが、現在ほとんどすべてのスピニングリールが採用している｢ハイポイドフェースギア｣はこの会社によって生まれました。その滑らかさは当時絶対的なシェアと信用を誇った、フランス･ミッチェル社の地位を揺るがすきっかけになりました。
1980年同社は、リアドラグスピニング･マイコンシリーズで一躍脚光を浴びます。しかしこれは、それまで地道にまじめな物作りを目指してきた同社の方向性を狂わせてしまいます。
大手メーカーとおなじような物作りに走った同社は、90年代初めにその歴史を終えました。
｢大森リール｣がまだ｢大森リール｣だったころの製品を中心に、このページをはじめます。
Ohmori was a fishing tackle manufacturer in Saitama Japan since 1952.
Ohmori was known by Diamond Reel brand in Japan and supplied their products
to Shakespeare brand and they were received high evaluation in the world.
The hypoid face gears which all most spinning reels used at present were
developed by this company.
Ohmori's Shakespeare spinning reels defeated MITCHELL spinning reels by
their smoothness of this gear system.
In 80's, their rear drag spinning reels "ShakespeareSIGMA" made
a big boom .
However, Ohmori forgot their serious manufacturing by this boom .
They started the way as the major Japanese manufacturers . Therefore they
ended the history at the beginning of the 90s.
